News Quiz!
KET produces a student friendly news program. PBS Learning Media discusses about current events in our world but explains it in a way for young minds to process. I show this program often in my classroom, plus its FREE! This episode is explains COVID-19, International Women's Day, hippos in Columbia, hand washing, and National Reading Month.

Dear families with students who are pushing through N.T.I.,

Caves and Caverns  By: Gail Gibbons

If you LOVE nonfiction books, then this book is for you!!

Have you ever thought about what is under feet…. Waaaaaay under your feet. Kentucky has what we call a “karst topography.” This is a fancy way of saying that the ground that makes up our beautiful state is made of a special rock called Limestone. Water travels easy through Limestone and causes the rock to break up and create caves. REAL caves! All throughout Kentucky there are caves everywhere! Here are a few links that you could click on and do some research on caves right here in Kentucky:

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Let's  be honest, teaching is hard. Explaining something that you don't understand is even more challenging... The upcoming weeks are going to try our patience. Parents, do what you can. As a teacher of 18 students I get to see success 18 different ways, 6 times, in 1 school day. Each child learns differently (we all know that)... However, you know your child best. If you see that they are getting tired, that glazed over look is setting in, or the tears have started to fall then take a step back. Take a minute, an hour, take a whole half day off if your child needs to reset. Sometimes the best learning moments are in your backyard in the sunshine.  With that being said, "Capet Time" is cancelled today. Enjoy the fresh air!

With Love,

Ms. Cypret

Social Studies 3/18/2020

I have gathered some resources for a short crash course over Social Studies and Economics. I feel that this will be a relatable lesson to our world today. Below is a link to Brain Pop Jr. about “Needs and Wants.” I use this in my classroom regularly so your child will be familiar with the program. Once your child is done watching the video feel free to do some of the activities that go along with the “Needs and Wants” video at the bottom of the page. It will have quizzes, games, word play, “craft”tivity, journal, or talk about it (which is my personal favorite).

https://jr.brainpop.com/socialstud…/economics/needsandwants/

If you need step by step instructions on how to sign up for FREE ACCESS to Brain Pop Jr:
1.) Click on this link —> https://jr.brainpop.com
2.) At the top of the page written on a white banner it states “We’re here to help in the event of a school closure. Request free access” CLICK THAT!
3.) Click on the “FREE Family Access” choice.
4.) Fill out the information form and YOU ARE READY TO LEARNNNN

MORE SOCIAL STUDIES????

With knowledge you have power and you are equipped with the correct tools to make sound decisions….. I show my students the “KET News” each week. It is a way for students to understand the news and know what is going on in our world. Here is this week’s KET News (its FREEEEE):  https://www.pbslearningmedia.org/…/ket-newsq…/newsquiz3525/…
